Besides the staff being super polite and helpful, Karaweik has tremendous food in a casual setting. I have eaten here several times and all of the dishes that I have tried are excellent. The lamb dishes are perfectly spiced, but my personal favorite is the royal green tea (Burmese) salad. They do a great job at flavoring the green tea dressing while making sure that the deep fried split peas and garlic aren't greasy. The balance of nuts and seeds gives it almost a meaty texture (the dried shrimp dust helps too). They use more romaine than cabbage, which gives it a different feel than more "cabbagey" Burmese green tea salads, but each bite is very balanced. I always walk away satisfied with this little gem, and they do a great job with take out due to Covid.

This was the first time I’ve tried Burmese cuisine and I was totally in love! I highly recommend ordering the tea leaf salad for its crunchy texture and delicious flavor! The paratha was delicious to start the meal before diving into some noodles. We tried the street noodles and the summer noodle salad and the whole party loved these dishes for their freshness and unique sauce flavors. I don’t think you could go wrong with any dishes at this restaurant.
On top of the delicious food, the service was amazing. Our server was attentive and sweet, and she gave us the best recommendations. Next time I come back to SF I will be coming here for sure!

April 7, 2022 - Had to update my review to alert the masses that, according to Yelp, Karaweik is closed temporarily until May 2! I got nervous thinking they were closed forever. Phew!
My original July 2021 review: Wonderful! Some of the previous reviews sounded too good to be true, so I went in skeptical….but the food was ACTUALLY that good! The tea leaf salad, paratha, and garlic noodles are not to be missed. As an earlier reviewer said, your eyes will roll back to the back of your head! Not to mention, the staff was super kind. Can’t wait to come back.

We had to-go and the food was delicious. You can enjoy the food in nearby parks, fields, beaches, or you can now dine outside. Ambiance for a nice place to dine is there.
We ordered 3 plates:
Spicy Pineapple Chicken
Chicken Coconut Curry and Rice
Street Noodles with tofu
Note: Since there isn't fries on the menu, for the kids, we got - Paratha with coconut curry sauce and they enjoyed it!
All 3 dishes were flavorful, and quite appetizing. Portions were perfect, even though I wish I had some leftovers for next day. I would definitely come back and try more dishes.

I’m a competing chef, although not in the same genre of food.
Everything was perfectly cooked, the samosas crispy, seasoned perfectly, and the sauce not anywhere near too spicy.
The Jungle Pork is tender and spiced just right to get the subtle nuances if all the spices. The slaw side is lightly citrusy, crunchy, and pits perfectly with the pickled mango (watch for the seed!), and a cold Myanmar Lager.
They have earned my repeat business! It’s a quiet little gem that is sadly unrecognized by the construction going on it’s location, but WELL worth the minimal effort needed to get there!

As a burmese who spent 26 years in Burma/Myanmar until moving to US 8 years ago, this is the first time that I tasted an authentic burmese cuisine here. I've tried several restaurants in NYC, Philadelphia, Buffalo, and SF. This is hands down the best and most authentic burmese food in US. We ordered tea leaf salad (which is prob the only one not so authentic), paratha with coconut sauce, coconut noodle, salad of noodle and shrimp crunchy tempura, and Biriyani (distinct from Indian).
The fact that the chef and kitchen staffs are all Burmese probably adds to the restaurant's authenticity. Burmese food is getting popular in the bay area with several Burmese restaurants. I'd definitely recommend this to my friends and would go back myself the next time I come to SF.
And the cherry on top is that in the menu, they have crossed out "Myanmar Beer" which is manufactured and exported by Burmese military junta who is committing genocide and atrocious crimes right now in Burma.

I just visited this new restaurant, and it was wonderful! The host was super friendly and took the time to walk through the menu with me, pointing out the house specialties. I went with the tea leaf salad with ginger (a variation on the traditional tea leaf salad) and the street noodles. Both were delicious. The tea leaf salad was incredibly fresh and the ginger had a really nice bite to it. The street noodles were very flavorful, and I especially enjoyed the crispy wontons and the tender chicken. Portions were generous -- each dish could easily feed two people. I'm excited to go back and try two other Burmese favorites: the garlic noodles and the paratha curry coconut dip. I took my dishes for take out, but the restaurant itself looked really sleek and modern. They don't yet have their sign up and there's a bit of construction right in front of the restaurant... But it's worth seeking out this new neighborhood gem! I'm excited that I no longer need to go to the Richmond or the Mission for delicious Burmese food.

The wait for our food was rather long, but totally worth it. The most important thing is the food and it was fantastic!! Had the mohinga, rainbow noodle salad, and the lamb with coconut rice. The food was fragrant, texturally complex, and well-presented. Will return next time with a reservation for sure. Staff were also very pleasant and attentive. Personally, I could have used a bit more veg or herb, but maybe that's not consistent with the cuisine.

What a tasty Burmese addition to the Marina! Tried some tasty curries (chicken, pumpkin shrimp) and soup. Great sauces and seasonings. Highlight is definitely the staff, extremely friendly and approachable with great recs across 2x visits. Great space as well with room for small and large parties. Small but mighty mix of solid beers (westphalia red, hazy). Pretty large portions which turned into a lunch the next day both visits. Definitely recommend and will be returning.

We thought we would try a Burmese restaurant for the first time and we’re delighted with our choice. It was rather late at 2:30 but it was open.
I ordered a soup which was very tasty and far too much to eat. You get very nice additions with the soup. My son had the Garlic noodle dish which was very good. We were also given a plate of salad with a variety of lovely salad items. Our waitress was very nice and helpful.
A visit is well recommended.

This place is incredible! The food is insanely good - we had the ginger tea leaf salad and curry chicken w/ginger rice, and they gave us street noodles on the house because they wanted us to try them! It’s family run and they are incredibly sweet. This is my new favorite spot in the Marina. As another reviewer said, if you like yourself even a little bit, check this place out.

This unexpected Burmese restaurant in the Marina/Cow Hollow was the perfect lunch getaway from a conference at Fort Mason. They have three different varieties of tea leaf salad. We had the ginger version and it was amazing. Also noteworthy were the rainbow noodle salad (hand mixed tableside) and shan tofu salad. The staff was very friendly and happy to accommodate vegan and vegetarian requests.

DELICIOUS!! I took my husband here for his birthday and it was perfect - the food was amazing (the jungle pork with slow-cooked pork was especially good, and the parathas were perfectly fluffy with some crunch), the staff were great, and they even organized a slice of cake with a candle and Burmese tea for my husband. So thoughtful!

Love this place! I recently discovered Burmese and I am in love. The people there are so nice and the takeout is delicious. I'm so happy I get to live close to this place. I honestly love everything I've tried. My favorites are the tea leaf salad, beef masala, coconut rice and pratha. Oh and the crunchy pineapple chicken yummm. I crave this place

Got the green tea leaf salad and the chicken satay (not pictured). BEST Burmese salad to date and that chicken was incredible and impeccably cooked and prepared. All in all amazing. I’m only in SF for a couple days but will probably come here again - it was THAT good.

THIS PLACE IS CLOSING DOWN IN 2 MONTHS! EAT THERE BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE! You won't regret it! The paratha is a must-have--so perfectly delicately crispy. I'm so sad this family-owned establishment is closing. They are such sweet people who make delicious food with excellent quality ingredients.

First time here and really loved it! The service was sweet and attentive, and the food was delicious and very reasonably priced - especially for the area. We had the regular tea leaf salad and street noodles, and they were both great. Will for sure be back!

The food is super good. We tried this dish called Danbauk and it was just an amazing experience. We felt lucky to try such food. I would definitely want to come again. Service was just perfect too. We loved our time at this place. Highly recommend this place.

Cozy and well decorated, Karaweik offers delightful fare at reasonable prices. Definitely try the Royal Tea, a bargain at $3 for a pot. The lamb paratha is also good as is the Royal Salad. The samosa soup was OK but not as remarkable. It wasn't crowded at lunchtime on Sunday.
~ Rahul B
Super good. The parantha curry was delicious as is the royal tea leaf salad, eggplant curry, noodle salad. They did this nice thing where they brought the salad out to the table to show us, then went back and mixed it up for us. It was cool to see all the different components of the salads
~ Audry R
Amazing Burmese food. Tea leaf salad was incredibly refreshing. I recommend getting the coconut rice with beef curry. The beef was very tender and full of flavor. We also received great staff service! I will be back again to try more of their menu!
~ Nishad S
I absolutely recommend it!! AWESOME. We had some chicken and a soup. Amazing. No more words. She was suuuuuper nice. We wanted her to impress us with the rice and si she brought us two!! And the beer is just incredible.
~ Jone A
Hands down best Burmese food I've ever had in the bay area, by a long shot! You know the food is good and authentic when the owner's mom is the one in charge of cooking. Finally a good Asian restaurant in Marina!!
~ Lucy C
Had a great dinner here on my last night in SF, ordered the fried lentil patties, fish soup and pumpkin shrimp. A great fusion restaurant to experience different flavors than usual. Service was very attentive and polite, would come here again!
