Customer's reviews

Besides the staff being super polite and helpful, Karaweik has tremendous food in a casual setting. I have eaten here several times and all of the dishes that I have tried are excellent. The lamb dishes are perfectly spiced, but my personal favorite is the royal green tea (Burmese) salad. They do a great job at flavoring the green tea dressing while making sure that the deep fried split peas and garlic aren't greasy. The balance of nuts and seeds gives it almost a meaty texture (the dried shrimp dust helps too). They use more romaine than cabbage, which gives it a different feel than more "cabbagey" Burmese green tea salads, but each bite is very balanced. I always walk away satisfied with this little gem, and they do a great job with take out due to Covid. ~ jason b
As a burmese who spent 26 years in Burma/Myanmar until moving to US 8 years ago, this is the first time that I tasted an authentic burmese cuisine here. I've tried several restaurants in NYC, Philadelphia, Buffalo, and SF. This is hands down the best and most authentic burmese food in US. We ordered tea leaf salad (which is prob the only one not so authentic), paratha with coconut sauce, coconut noodle, salad of noodle and shrimp crunchy tempura, and Biriyani (distinct from Indian). The fact that the chef and kitchen staffs are all Burmese probably adds to the restaurant's authenticity. Burmese food is getting popular in the bay area with several Burmese restaurants. I'd definitely recommend this to my friends and would go back myself the next time I come to SF. And the cherry on top is that in the menu, they have crossed out "Myanmar Beer" which is manufactured and exported by Burmese military junta who is committing genocide and atrocious crimes right now in Burma. ~ Cheetah
This was the first time I’ve tried Burmese cuisine and I was totally in love! I highly recommend ordering the tea leaf salad for its crunchy texture and delicious flavor! The paratha was delicious to start the meal before diving into some noodles. We tried the street noodles and the summer noodle salad and the whole party loved these dishes for their freshness and unique sauce flavors. I don’t think you could go wrong with any dishes at this restaurant. On top of the delicious food, the service was amazing. Our server was attentive and sweet, and she gave us the best recommendations. Next time I come back to SF I will be coming here for sure! ~ Marissa G
